Worship Visuals and Streaming

Adults and youth are always needed to assist with the visual aspects of our worship services. From running the PowerPoint slides, operating a camera, and controlling our online feed, there are many opportunities for tech-minded folk to be of service.

Acolytes

Adults and youth have the opportunity to help facilitate worship at Zion by lighting our candles.

Altar Guild

This group of people serves Zion by caring for the altar furnishings and vestments.

 

Bus Drivers

Zion provides transportation to and from the 9:00am worship service every Sunday morning. Drivers are normally scheduled one Sunday a month. If you would like to ride the church bus, contact Diana Hawker.

 

Communion Preparation

This ministry takes place in the Sacristy on Sunday morning before the worship service begins. The team prepares the bread and wine to be served to the congregation during communion every Sunday before our 9:00am worship and on festival days. At the close of worship, the team puts away the elements and washes all of the communion ware in readiness for the next Lord’s Supper.

 

Communion Assistants

Volunteers work as part of the teams that assist the pastor in serving communion every Sunday morning.

 

Greeters

If you enjoy meeting people with a friendly smile, you may want to become part of the greeter ministry. Greeters are often the first people members and visitors meet at the beginning of worship. The time commitment is minimal, but it can make a lasting impression.

Scripture Readers

Congregational members read the lessons of the day during worship services.
The lessons are provided in advance.

 

Ushers

Zion is looking for ushers to welcome worshipers, assist with collecting the offering,
and guide people to communion. After worship, they collect attendance information
and pick up items left in the pews.

Coffee Hosts

What would church be without coffee and cookies? Every Sunday, we offer fellowship following worship in Fellowship Hall, hosted by Zion members and friends.

 

Funeral Receptions

Families of members often plan receptions at Zion following the funeral of a loved one.
A dedicated group of individuals staff these receptions, prepare light food, serve,
and clean up.

 

Home Communion

Members of the congregation take communion from Zion’s worship to home-centered members on a regular basis. Contact Zion’s Office (319) 235-7045 to volunteer for this ministry.
